Shopify is adding support for USDC on Base to its Checkout system through Shopify Payments and Shop Pay. The early access phase starts now, with a broader rollout planned over the year. The update lets customers pay with stablecoins while merchants continue to receive local currency by default. Shopify partnered with Coinbase to build the smart contract powering this, called the Commerce Payment Protocol.
This new system works like a regular card transaction, supporting things like inventory holds and refunds. Stripe helped make the integration seamless, with no extra setup needed. Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke also shared that 1% cashback for buyers may be coming soon. Learn more here
Swellchain is seeing a major spike in activity, hitting over 3 million transactions in just eight days. This growth is fueled by gaming hits like Drift Pass by Intraverse and new DeFi protocols like Orki Finance. Kart Racers III is now live across Swellchain, Taiko, and Apecoin, with over 70 teams racing for $20K+ in rewards. Orki also introduces $USDK, a stablecoin backed by swETH and rswETH, expanding how users can leverage staked assets onchain.
The chain is also leveling up its infrastructure. Boba Network just launched the new Boba Hub, a major upgrade from its old Gateway. It’s now a unified dashboard for everything in the Boba ecosystem, including bridging, smart accounts, token info, price tracking, and more. The goal is to simplify the user experience and reduce friction by giving users a single entry point instead of juggling tabs or tools.

Enable a set of interoperable Stage 1 chains that collectively move $100 million per month in cross-chain asset transfers.
Season 8 introduces major upgrades to governance structure: stakeholder voting, a public definition of Citizenship, and modular, governance-minimized decision making.
