Welcome to Superchain Sunday - our weekly newsletter! Every Sunday, we will provide you with the latest news and updates in the world of the Superchain.
The Superchain accounts for over 65.9% of all Layer 2 transactions and sees 15.8M daily transactions. The network boasts 818 Unique Apps, contributing to the Optimism Collective. It is estimated that 47.1 ETH will be contributed to the Optimism Collective in July. Data Fetched from the Superchain Health Dashboard.
The final chapter of SuperStacks has arrived, marking the close of one of the biggest DeFi campaigns across the Superchain to date. Over the past weeks, more than 50,000 participants supplied liquidity, boosted onchain activity, and helped fuel the vision of interoperable Superchain assets. With $5.95 billion in cumulative DEX volume and over $250 million in TVL across eligible pools and vaults, SuperStacks showed what coordinated, cross-chain DeFi can achieve when the community shows up.
The campaign was backed by leading chains like Base, Unichain, Ink, World Chain, Soneium, and OP Mainnet, with top protocols like Uniswap, Velodrome, Morpho, Euler, Moonwell, and others all playing a part. The good news is, the rewards are just getting started. On July 15, SuperStacks users can exchange their XP for OP on https://app.optimism.io/superstacks

Superseed has launched Seeds Season 1, an onchain rewards campaign designed to recognize real participation across the Superseed ecosystem. Over the next three months, participants can earn their share of 150 million \$SUPR by bridging assets, providing liquidity, trading, and referring others to the network. All Seeds earned during the season contribute to end-of-season rewards, with early contributors and active users able to boost their earnings through multipliers and streak bonuses.
Whether you're depositing assets like ETH, USDC, or cbBTC, supplying liquidity to supported pools, or simply swapping tokens, every action counts. The referral program gives you 10 percent of the Seeds generated by anyone you bring into the ecosystem, with no cap on how many you can invite. At the end of Season 1, participants will receive $SUPR based on their Seeds total. Learn more here.
Celo has launched the Eclair Testnet, marking a major milestone in its transition to an Ethereum L2 optimized for global markets. This is the first public network to integrate OP Succinct Lite, a ZK-powered fault proof system, alongside EigenDA v2 for scalable data availability. Developed in collaboration with Succinct and EigenLabs, Eclair combines modular infrastructure, zk-SNARK security, and high-throughput data solutions to create a more efficient and secure rollup design.
The testnet features Celo-native tools like token duality, faster configurable finality, and ZK-powered dispute resolution. It also introduces EigenDA's Blazar upgrade, enabling near real-time confirmations, higher throughput, and improved network performance. Eclair represents a significant technical step forward for Celo and will be showcased during EthCC Cannes. Learn more here
Boba Network has secured a $70 million capital commitment from Awaken Foundation and LDA Capital to fuel its next phase of growth. The funding will support core infrastructure, ecosystem expansion, and the development of AI-powered decentralized applications, building on Boba’s unique HybridCompute technology. This milestone marks a major step forward in positioning Boba as a leading Layer 2 for AI-enabled dApps and Web3 innovation.
In addition to the funding, Boba Governance Foundation has finalized an agreement with the FTX Recovery Trust, resolving uncertainty around BOBA token holdings. The Trust has transferred its tokens to the Foundation and received the right to purchase additional tokens at a fixed price within the next 18 months. This agreement, alongside the new capital, strengthens Boba Network’s foundation for long-term growth. Learn more here.
Voting Cycle 39 brought major decisions and important signals for the future of Optimism Governance. The Grants Council Charter passed, confirming that the Grants Council, led by @GonnaEth, will continue through Seasons 8 and 9 with updated processes. This includes a stronger focus on ETH-denominated usage and the introduction of AI-assisted intake for grant applications. The Developer Advisory Board (DAB) Charter, proposed by @wildmolasses, also passed. The DAB now has formal oversight of protocol upgrades, requiring a 5-of-7 vote to approve future network changes, adding clear accountability to technical decisions.
Not every proposal made it through. The Governor Update to remove Abstain votes from quorum failed, falling short of the required 76 percent supermajority. Meanwhile, two important votes are still underway: the Budget Board Advisory Proposal, which caps the operating budget at 4.44 million OP to ensure long-term sustainability, and Upgrade Proposal 16, which enhances Superchain interoperability, updates fault proofs, and removes unilateral powers from the Optimism Foundation. Self-nominations for Season 8 and 9 governance roles are also now open until July 14. If you believe in building a more user-owned internet, consider delegating to Superchain Eco.
The Superchain has grown to 33 different OP Chains, each with its flourishing Ecosystem. These are some extra stories to make your Sunday that much more Super.
